The Best Black Hair Care Products

Black hair care products are a major part of the eight billion dollar black hair industry. For all the money we are paying, half of the products don't do anything for our hair. They are full of ingredients that prevent us from achieving great lengths.

Remember Rio! Enough Said! Instead of buying into false labels and advertisements I now pick up any product that interest me and read the list of ingredients!

Do yourself and your children and friends a favor and research any product before you buy it! There are a bunch of great black hair care forums on the web where real people have tried products and left their review. Amazon is another great place to go for reviews.

If nothing else, be sure to stick to products that have natural ingredients. We don't need the perfumes, additives and/or preservatives. If you find these products, you are already on the right track.

In general, you should:

  • Seek organic essential oils when you are looking for a good hot oil hair treatment.
  • Use a gentle shampoo, one that has an oil base
  • Use a good moisturizing conditioner
  • Avoid grease and pomades that contain mineral oil and petroleum.
  • Try henna dyes instead of those harsh chemical dyes you buy at the stores
  • If you are using gels and/or moisturizers, use ones that are water based. You can tell this by the order of the ingredients listed. The higher up the ingredient, the more of it in the bottle
  • If you change the color of your hair, use henna dyes rather than commercial chemical dyes.
  • If you must relax your hair do your research and try a conditioning lye relaxer.
