Ghetto Hairstyles or Creative and Colorful New Looks?

What are ghetto hairstyles? I debated for a few days on whether or not I should write about this in my blog or include a page on my site about it. In order to build a successful site, I have software that tells me exactly what people are searching for on the internet. I was quite surprised to find out that there were a bunch of searches for hairstyles that appear ghetto. I had no idea what made a hairstyle ghetto so I was off to do some research and find some pictures. I had several of my friends and viewers submit "ghetto" pictures to me. In the end, I decided to do a page and leave it open for comments.

From my research, and in my opinion ghetto hairstyles are colorful, creative, and unique hairstyles that people wear mostly for hair shows or special occasions. There are however some that embrace these styles and this term on a regular basis.

I am not sure if the term comes from them labeling themselves or if outsiders used the term "ghetto" to describe them.

I personally believe that the styles are simply creative and feel for those who are afraid to step outside the box when it comes to their hair because of terms like this. Some people consider dreadlocks and cornrows to be ghetto and I find that just plain ridiculous. These people should do some research on the history of race and culture. However, if you are one that embraces the term, then that is your choice also.

My main concern or question is that it appears to be applied mainly to blacks. Don't get me wrong, it seems as though we sometimes apply it to ourselves but, I just wonder why colorful and unique black hair can't be called funky or unique.

In other cultures, these hairstyles would be called Gothic or trendy.

Thanks to the viewer that submitted this video! I must admit that whoever did most of these styles are extremely talented but some of them, like the multi-colored hair-do above is too much for me.

Now u know that is too ghetto, sometime people be runnin out and they know they do.the hair styles is cute but they could at least use some reasonable hair colors like black,brown,or something that fits a black female.lol
